Virginia driver faces traffic violations in fatal accident

Most people would agree that tow truck drivers perform an essential function. Unfortunately, their jobs often require them to park just off the lanes of traffic on busy roadways, making their jobs inherently risky. In fact, a tow truck driver in Virginia was recently killed in a car accident as he was standing outside of his truck; the other driver allegedly involved now faces traffic violations.

The accident happened during the afternoon hours of a day in mid-June. According to reports, the 29-year-old tow truck driver was parked on the shoulder of an entrance ramp for I-95. It is unclear if the vehicle’s flashing lights were engaged at the time or if the driver was stopped as part of his work responsibilities.

Police say that a 29-year-old male driving a sedan crossed the fog line, striking the tow-truck driver. The latter suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital; he later passed away. Reports indicate that the driver of the sedan remained at the scene.

As a result of the accident, the Virginia driver now faces several traffic violations, including reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt. Unfortunately, these charges can have a significant impact on a person’s life — potentially including their ability to work — if convicted. Because of this, many drivers facing similar charges consult with an attorney to ensure that they fully understand their legal options and the potential outcomes each. With such guidance, these defendants often feel more confident in their ability to make informed decisions about their cases.
