Virginia man accused of DUI after rear-end crash

When a person is not feeling well, the natural thing for him or her to do is to go to the store and purchase over-the-counter medication to help treat the symptoms. Unfortunately, one Virginia man claims that such a trip occurred shortly before he was accused of causing an accident that sent two people to the hospital. He now faces DUI charges as a result.

The incident reportedly happened on a day in February. According to reports, a vehicle was stopped at a stoplight. A couple in the vehicle claimed that another vehicle, reportedly driven by the 72-year-old man now under arrest, struck them from behind while traveling at 60 mph. Police say they were attempting to stop the vehicle when the accident happened.

A woman in the first car reportedly suffered internal injuries while a man broke his arm and leg. The driver of the second vehicle states that he has no memory of drinking prior to the accident, but he does not believe he did so. He claims that he wasn’t feeling well so he went to the store to buy “mucus medication,” which he says he took while he was in the parking lot.

In addition to DUI, the man is also charged with maiming. Despite the allegations made by Virginia law enforcement officers, it is unclear what evidence supports the claim that the man was under the influence. Because of the seriousness of the accusations against him, the man must now make decisions that will likely impact the rest of his life. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help him sort through the evidence against him and provide guidance while he examines these life-changing choices.
