When a person is driving in an unfamiliar area, it is understandable that he or she might become disoriented and confused. In fact, such confusion could ultimately lead to a car accident. Despite this, a Virginia man is now accused of driving under the influence, or DUI, after he was allegedly involved in a car accident involving a restaurant.
Reports indicate that the man was visiting the area in which the accident happened. According to police officers, he was leaving an apartment complex when his vehicle struck a Dunkin' Donuts on the other side of the street. His vehicle reportedly became wedged between two pillars.
Though employees claim that the accident had the potential of causing harm and reporting that they thought it was an earthquake, no injuries were reported in the incident. Additionally, the store manager is hopeful that the store would be operational within a week after the accident. The driver was reportedly taken into custody, believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.
Despite the allegations against the Virginia man and his subsequent arrest, it is unclear what caused law enforcement officers to suspect that DUI was a factor in the accident or what evidence supports their allegations. Now the young man is left facing criminal charges that could ultimately have a significant impact on her personal, professional and financial situations. As such, he may want an attorney with experience with such cases to help guide him throughout the decisions he must now make, ensuring that he is able to make informed choices.
