After graduating from the University of Richmond Law School in 1970, Bob Rider began his legal career as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in Roanoke, Virginia. After serving in this role for three years, he became the Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Roanoke and served until 1979, resigning to enter private practice. During his years as a prosecutor, he was an active member of the National District Attorneys Association and also served for eight years on the Governor's Council on Criminal Justice.
Since entering private practice in 1979, Bob has focused exclusively on litigation in the limited areas of Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, and IRS Representation. He has been selected to appear in The Best Lawyers in America (Criminal Defense) since 1989 and Virginia Super Lawyers for 2008.
